The declarations by Rossell served as a warning for other clubs such as Anzhi Makhachkala. A few weeks ago, Roberto Carlos, Anzhi Makhachkala's interim coach, suggested to Pedro Pinto of CNN that Suleiman Kerymov, the team's president's, wanted to sign Messi, Samuel Eto'o and Neymar last summer.
Anzhi Makhachkala eventually signed Eto'o, but the idea of Messi—even if it is a rumor—leaving Barca might have sent warning signals to Rossell. The conclusion from this piece of news is that Messi will remain at Barca even after his contract expires in 2016.
